Changing the narrative around gambling harm. Part Two: How we say it.

What you need to know

The Scottish Gambling Harm Lived Experience Forum would like to invite you to reshape the narrative on gambling harm in Scotland.

This event follows on from our previous one in September 2024, which examined the current harmful narratives on gambling harm in Scotland and started to shape our own counter-messages to challenge this.

This event aims to build on this and plan how to share these messages in a way that successfully impacts policy, practice and public perception.

Everyone deserves to live free from gambling harm, and we need messages which recognise and emphasise that.

During this event, you will:

  • Hear from grassroots activists and campaigners who have successfully countered dominant narratives and influenced public perception and action around important issues.
  • Take part in discussions to begin cocreating a tangible plan for sharing our key messages to challenge the normalisation of gambling.
  • Network and connect with other people committed to tackling gambling harm.

This event will start at 10am and finish at 3pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please note that this will be a discussion-based event where participants will be expected to participate using creative methods.

The ALLIANCE are able to support people to attend this event and will cover reasonable expenses of delegates travelling from areas within Scotland. If you are attending this event from another part of the UK and would require expenses to be reimbursed, please get in touch and we can discuss how we are able to support you.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at gamblingharm@alliance-scotland.org.uk
