Come join us at Nesbitts Greenhouse to learn the basics of worm composting for an easy, abundant and odor-free vermicomposting experience!

Anna will be sharing her favorite methods of caring for red wigglers, drawing from her 10 years of exploring the universe of worms. 

In this workshop, you will learn: 

- The red wiggler essentials : who they are and what they need to survive & thrive indoors

- The basics of excellent worm parenting: feeding, housing, bin care and more!

- Anna's tried and true favorite method of low maintenance, stink & mold-free compost building and harvesting

- What to do with an abundance of ''black gold'', otherwise known as worm castings 

All participants will receive a *free* e-book guide to take home all the essential information and master the art of small scale worm farming from the comfort of their home. Additional information will be covered during the workshop as well, so don't miss it! 

For those wanting to purchase worms, bins and deluxe starter kits, registration and purchases need to be completed prior to May 23rd. Registration for workshop attendance only can be completed until the time and date of the workshop. Attendance is free for all kids under 16 not purchasing worms, bins or deluxe starter kits. 

A few important notes for those considering purchasing worms for the first time: 

- Time commitment for taking care of the worms according to Anna's recommended method is approximately *10 minutes per week*, with a compost harvest session that can take up to 1 hour maximum every few months. 
- The starter colony being sold at this workshop will be a mixture of mature worms, baby worms, cocoons (the equivalent of eggs), castings, coconut coir and blended food. They will need to be housed the same day as they are brought home, and fed after 5-7 days following the workshop. 
- The worm bin or other housing installation will need to be placed somewhere where temperatures consistently range between 10°C-25°C. This species will not survive any temperatures below 0°C.
- These worms are safe to put in your compost pile if you are in an urban environment only. They are not native to this land, and should not be placed outdoors anywhere near wild/forested areas. This is so that native plants, insects and the soil remain protected from the imbalance their presence could potentially create, despite the fact that they are not considered invasive officially. This specific workshop will focus on indoor cultivation, and outdoor techniques using red wigglers will not be covered, except for seasonal covered porch, balcony or garage setups.
