What you need to know

Singin' In Harmony 🎶

Would you like to teach the world to sing... in perfect harmony? 🎶

This quick and easy 90 minute online session is aimed at practitioners working with 4-11 year olds to help their students sing in harmony without putting their hands over their ears and shouting (just joking - but that's what many of us feel like doing when it gets a bit tricky).

We'll be sharing ideas for:

  • easy songs, games and activities to support the development of 'inner hearing' and the 'thinking voice'
  • progression of skills through a range of different types of songs and strategies
  • song teaching and structuring the learning
  • appropriate repertoire, language and resources
  • managing large groups of young singers

And yes, we will be attempting to explain the answer to that inimitably difficult to articulate choral harmony question that's on everybody's musical lips... "What's the difference between a round and a canon?"

BOOK BEFORE 23 April 2024 and get 33% discount -  use code EARLYBIRD.

50% subsidy for all full-time students in Higher Education - use code STUDENTVIP.

This fun online workshop is fully interactive - cameras on with engagements on text chat, vocal inputs from   delegates, emoticons, quizzes and an appreciation of teachers' own valid experiences. There will be an opportunity to stay online at the end for a chat with the facilitator Louisa Roberts about your own context. All delegates who attend and participate will receive helpful follow up links and resources from Being Musical.

Facilitator: Louisa Roberts

"My passion for singing started when I was really small before I went to school when I used to sing along to my dad's vinyl country music albums and make up silly lyrics to the music on the tv testcard and dance along.

Through later experiences using Kodály methodologies and teaching and supporting practitioners in primary schools as a learning leader, I’ve magpied and developed fun ideas on how to develop the inner ear and help children, young people and adults to part-sing beautifully.

I currently perform with Joyful Company of Singers, a London based chamber choir, singing second soprano - without covering my ears - at least for some of the time!"

Being Musical Workshops are a series of fun, interactive online live global workshops specifically aimed at performing arts teachers working in a whole class context with children and young people.
