What you need to know

Maximising the Impact of Classroom Helpers in Whole Class Teaching

Are you a classroom assistant or class teacher who is present during the music lesson which is taught by a music specialist?

Perhaps you're a music specialist working with primary-aged children. Are you making the most of your classroom help in your drama, dance or music lessons?

Teaching assistants and additional adults (who may be teachers or performers) can have an amazing impact on learning when deployed and communicated with effectively.

Being Musical's 90 minute live interactive online experience is a quick and easy session aimed at school practitioners (including Learning Support Assistants and Teaching Assistants)  and performing arts teachers from all disciplines across the globe exploring ways to...

  • get to grips with preparedness
  • consider effective deployment of helpers
  • understand how interactions and great practice can impact on learning
  • utilise the skills of helpers to support the learning of pupils effectively

BOOK BEFORE 31 January 2025 and get a third off EARLYBIRD DISCOUNT.

This session is included at no cost for current Mentees of Being Musical.

We welcome practitioners from schools, music hubs and all creative organisations working with children and young people.

This fun online workshop is fully interactive - cameras on with engagements on text chat, vocal inputs from delegates, emoticons, quizzes and an appreciation of teachers' own valid experiences. There will be an opportunity to stay online at the end for a chat with the facilitator Louisa Roberts about your own context and to get personalised support. All delegates who attend and participate will receive helpful follow up links and resources from Being Musical

Facilitator: Being Musical's Lead Learning Specialist Louisa Roberts

"My school experience as an assistant headteacher in north London whilst undertaking UCL's Maximising the Impact of Teaching Assistants programme (MITA), led to me undertaking MITA as an impact initiative in 2015 (reported in Headteacher Update). Since then I have expanded my understanding of teaching assistant support within the context of performing arts teaching. Looking forward to meeting you, sharing ideas and hearing about your work."

Being Musical Workshops are a series of fun, interactive online live global workshops specifically aimed at performing arts teachers working in a whole class context with children and young people.
