Join us for an exciting day of historical fencing organised by By the Sword. This event is specifically designed for women and nonbinary folks who are interested in learning and practicing the art of sword fighting in a safe and inclusive environment. Whether you're a seasoned fencer or just starting out, this event is perfect for anyone looking to improve their skills and connect with like-minded individuals.

This is a safe space where you'll have the opportunity to spar with other participants, learn new techniques from experienced instructors, and engage in friendly competition. Our aim is to create a welcoming community where everyone can feel comfortable expressing themselves through these unique martial arts. 

In this spirit there will be a traffic light sticker system in operation. Everyone is free to change their status at any time:

💚 Green - “I will fence anyone”

🧡 Amber - “I will ask you if I want to fence”

❤️ Red - “Don’t ask me to fence.”

We encourage good communication before, during and after an exchange. Fencing safely is KIDS play:

Consider

Kit - if you or your opponent are missing any for example 

Intensity - level of intensity for strikes

Duration - how long you wish to fence for

Surroundings - if the piste is big enough and free from hazards
