ExaGEO Supervisor Networking Event

Tuesday, May 27, 2025
Senate Room, Glasgow, United Kingdom

What you need to know

Please join ExaGEO DLA for our first annual Supervisor Networking Event which will take place on Tuesday, 27th May (10:00 to 16:00) in the Senate Room, Gilbert Scott Building, University of Glasgow.

This event aims to address supervisory gaps in existing ExaGEO projects due to start in the 2025/26 academic year while also fostering new opportunities for collaboration and innovation for future projects. To achieve this, we will bring together academics from our partner institutions -- the University of Edinburgh, the University of Glasgow, and Lancaster University -- along with current and potential industrial partners.

Tentative Agenda (Convenor Todd Ehlers, UofG):

a. Overview of ExaGEO Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA) and expectations for projects and the student journey

b. Summary of project submissions for Cohort 1, March 2025, and admissions procedures

c. Supervisor pairings / filling gaps for Cohort 1

d. Planning ahead (breakout groups/tables): Supervisor networking/pairing across institutions for Cohort 2 students (Winter 2025-25 applications)

Attendees will be required to cover their travel costs, however, lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Should you be able to attend, please register by Friday, 9th May. We hope to see you there!

If you have any queries, please contact us.

HOW TO GET THERE

From University Avenue, the easiest route to the Senate Room without going through the Main Building (Gilbert Scott) is via Professors' Square, heading to the South Front of the building. Enter through the main entrance across from the flag pole and take the Adam Smith staircase (first set of main doors on your right as you enter the building). At the top of the staircase, turn left and the Senate Room is at the end of the corridor.

The Main Building is located a 5-10 minute walk from Hillhead and Kelvinbridge Subway Stations. Within Glasgow City Centre, the local Subway stations are near Queen Street and Glasgow Central Train Stations. Alternatively, the campus is a 20 minute walk from Patrick Train Station. Apple or Google Maps provide clear instructions for getting to the Building via Train and Subway.
