Keystone Academy Trust are running two virtual sessions to support schools in their understanding of adaptive practice for writing. Across the two sessions we will cover a range of areas and a full breakdown of the sessions can be seen below:
Session 1 - 26th November 2024
- How to adapt your approaches to modelling (and use of WAGOLLs and WABOLLs) for all learners, leading to a ‘slow release of responsibility’ in independent writing.
- Using guided practice more effectively, focusing on key marginal children and lower prior attainers.
- The importance of rich and varied texts and accessible writing opportunities.
- How to provide helpful feedback that moves learning forward.
- Scaffolding ‘working towards the expected standard’ children in accessing year group expectations.
- Planning and teaching to develop automaticity and fluency in transcriptional components, punctuation and grammar.
- Overcoming issues with composition – articulating ideas and structuring writing.
