The LGT Leadership Forum is launching our programme for 2024-25 inspired by the topic of exceptional leadership.
Session 1: Civility under Pressure
Wednesday 27 November 2024, 9:00 –
12:00, Lecture Theatre, UHL
Guest Speakers: Dr Vanessa Purday, CMO at LGT and Dr Joe Farmer, Civility Saves
Lives (virtual)
Our first session will be launched by Chief Medical Officer Dr Vanessa Purday and welcome our guest speaker Dr Joe Farmer from the Civility Saves Lives team.
This session explores how time pressures can be our biggest barrier to success – even in the way we behave to our colleagues and to our patients. The challenges facing our leaders are complex. We face unprecedented clinical demand, must influence and inspire across diverse teams, and deliver quality care for patients whilst managing their own burnout and exhaustion. How can NHS leaders be exceptional when there is just no time?
The session will offer attendees:
- Explore the time pressures that we face and how that impacts our civility
- Tools to help you be kinder to yourself, to colleagues and to patients
- Tips on how to encourage compassion and civility in others
- Latest research on the importance of civility in saving lives
We particularly encourage and welcome attendance across all professional and staffing groups.
Please join us in the UHL Lecture Theatre at 9:00 for the in-person session to maximise the skills development and networking. If you cannot join us for the full session, you are welcome to join us online for Joe's presentation at 10:00. Please email us separately to request the Teams joining link.
