What you need to know

This event will be dedicated to the First Degree Tracing Board as practised under the United Grand Lodge of England. The session will examine the Tracing Board as an instructional and moral teaching aid, explaining its purpose, structure, and principal symbols within the Entered Apprentice Degree.

The presentation will explore how the Tracing Board brings clarity to the ceremony of initiation by visually conveying its ethical lessons. Key elements—including the Lodge and its orientation, the Great and Lesser Lights, Jacob’s Ladder, the Columns of Wisdom, Strength and Beauty, the Ashlars, and the Entered Apprentice’s working tools—will be explained in accordance with established UGLE interpretation and HKEMBL (Hür ve Kabul Edilmiş Masonlar Büyük Locası)

The focus throughout will remain on moral development, discipline of character, and the practical application of Masonic principles in daily life, avoiding speculative or esoteric readings. The event is intended to support Brethren in deepening their understanding of First Degree symbolism and in strengthening their ability to communicate its meaning clearly, accurately, and consistently within the lodge.

This session is suitable for Entered Apprentices, fellowcrafts seeking consolidation of First Degree instruction, and Brethren involved in lodge education.
