What you need to know

Due to the recently announced General Election, we have had to move the original date of 4 July.

We are now pleased to invite you to the new exclusive launch event on Thursday 18 July to celebrate the opening of Ormiston Latimer Academy’s pioneering special resource base – Freston Junction.

The official opening event will take place from 17:30 – 19.00 on Thursday 18 July at Ormiston Latimer Academy, 194 Freston Rd, W10 6TT (please use the Shafleet Drive Entrance).

The new provision will provide specialist, tailored support for 12 children and young people with autism and/or SEMH needs.

Supported with investment from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) – a long-standing delivery partner – the resource base offers purposely designed educational spaces which will help pupils engage and supported in their learning.

Specialist teaching staff have been appointed to deliver tailored curriculum approaches and therapeutic support, working in close conjunction with families and other agencies, to ensure pupils receive highly personalised learning experiences to suit their individual needs and goals. Importantly, the resource base will also help provide wide-ranging educational opportunities for children who may not otherwise be able to access them.

This will be unique to RBKC, as we understand that no other Alternative Provision (AP) has an offer of this nature. We are therefore very much looking forward to seeing the meaningful impact this will have on young people in our area, and for the potential the centre holds as a blueprint for more sustainable, effective support in the long-term.

During the event, you will hear from the colleagues responsible for establishing and delivering this new provision, with tours of the centre provided so you can learn more about the bespoke offering.

Food and drinks will be served, and there will also be the opportunities to speak with staff, pupils, families and wider stakeholders about the important role of this resource in RBKC.
