Our last Film Club screening of the 24/25 academic year will take place on Wednesday 26th March.
We will show Supermen of Malegaon (2008), directed by Faiza Ahmad Khan.

"You may never have heard of Malegaon. It's a town in Maharashtra, India. Struggling to cope with the demands of a global economy, local communal tensions and infrastructural limitations of small town life, a group of people in Malegaon indulge in the guilty pleasure of making, or rather re-making, big-budget Bollywood and Hollywood films into spoofs. In a documentary like no other, director Faiza Ahmad Khan follows the remaking of the film Superman and stumbles upon an entirely alternative film industry that supports such low-budget productions in the town. Join us to watch Supermen of Malegaon on March 26, both a laugh riot and an insightful commentary on what may well be described as small town India's desire to participate in the transnational flows of culture."
