Kodaly is a method currently taught whereby young children unconsciously learn the basic musical elements: solfa, rhythm, hand signs, memory development, singing, and more. Early Kodály music education for children has countless benefits.
Recommended for all Stagecoach teachers from Early Stages to Further Stages, music and non-music teachers (who may be needed to dep at some time).
Liz graduated from the University of Newcastle with the David Barlow Award for Outstanding Finalist and subsequently completed a Masters Degree in Early Music at York University. She began working at Stagecoach in 2000. From 2007 to 2013 she worked in Glasgow teaching Kodaly with the RSNO Junior Chorus and the National Youth Choir of Scotland, and also taught at Glasgow Stagecoach.Since returning to the North East Liz is back at Stagecoach Newcastle. She also works with Streetwise Opera, and is currently musical director of Newcastle Youth Choir, Ponteland Ladies’ Choir and Newcastle Military Wives Choir. She continues her Kodaly and repetiteur work, and teaches piano, singing and music theory privately, following the ABRSM exam board.
This is a sharing workshop and coming together of NE teachers.
