What you need to know

Get ready to jingle at our inaugural Christmas fun run and help raise some cash for our cause!

We have partnered with Tamworth Borough Council to bring you the Abbott Antler 5k fun run. The event will take place in Tamworth Castle Grounds on Sunday 15th December and mirror the parkrun route. Runners and walkers are invited to take part to burn off some extra calories before the festive season of indulgence really kicks in! Fancy dress is encouraged and prizes will be awarded for best dressed family, adult and child.

Refreshments will be available to purchase in the main event area for participants and supporters to enjoy during the event.

> Race medal for all runners
> Prizes for best fancy dress - adult, family & child

All profits will be added to our charity pot where they will help make a difference to local children in need.
If you'd like to take part and want to raise additional funds for us, please download a sponsorship form, which can be found here.

Simon's Heroes is a local charity which aims to improve the quality of life and make a positive difference to local children in need. The charity raises money through corporate sponsorship, sponsored events including obstacle runs, fun days and galas that help them to provide resources and opportunities that are not always available through the NHS and other funding routes, but go a long way towards helping children with life limiting illnesses lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

The event is dedicated to Karen Abbott, a very inspirational lady and dearly loved member of the charity, who sadly passed away in March 2016. Karen made a huge contribution to Simon's Heroes, having participated in countless races, raising funds and offering her support when needed.

Start time: 10:00am.

Dogs cannot participate (sorry) but can spectate!

This is not a timed event.

If you can only manage 1 lap, you will still receive a medal :)

Get those Santa hats ready!

Location

Tamworth Castle Grounds
Riverdrive, Tamworth, STAFFORDSHIRE, B79 7ND United Kingdom

Directions

The event site is located in Tamworth Castle Grounds, B79 7NA. The event starts close to the skate park and tennis court.

Parking

Several car parks are available in Tamworth town centre. We recommend the Jolly Sailor car park (B78 3JJ), as this is a short walk from the start/finish area. Alternatives are Holloway and Riverdrive. From the car park cross the green bridge over the river Tame, and take the path between the old swimming pool building and the bowling alley towards the start/finish area, at this point you will be walking along part of the course. We do not recommend parking in the bowling alley or Snowdome car park due to parking charges.

Baggage Area

There will not be a bag drop point.

Course

The course is run on a mixture of concrete and tarmac paths. It consists of two laps; the majority is flat with one small incline and decline. The route provides views of both the rivers Anker and Tame, the Castle, and the SnowDome, as well as passing all the planets in our solar system. The start and finish are located close to the skate park and tennis courts on the main thoroughfare through the centre of the park.

Facilities

There are toilets in the castle grounds. These are free to use and will be open from 8:30am and have accessible facilities.

Health and Safety

A risk assessment has been carried out and this will be displayed near the start. Please acquaint yourselves with the details of this to ensure you are aware of the hazards and the measures that have been put in place to reduce the risk of injury.

First Aid

First aid officers will be in attendance and will be clearly visible near the finish area.

Late Entries

If the event has not sold out prior to the closing date, you will be able to register on the day, however we cannot guarantee availability. Registration on the day will close promptly at 09:30am.

Course Marshals

The course will be well marshaled. For the safety of yourself and those around you please obey all instructions given by marshals and officials.

Prizes and Presentation

All competitors will receive a medal upon finishing. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed family, adult and child.
