What you need to know

Supporting children in mainstream settings

Come and see SEN Support in action at St Thomas’ Church of England Primary Academy - a small one-form entry primary school, where cupboards and cloakrooms have been converted into learning spaces to maximise opportunities for our children.

This is multi-agency event where we are opening our doors to teachers, TAs, early help support staff, support workers from third sector organisations and parents. Come and see how we use the information provided by other organisations and parents in order to inform our special educational needs provision for children accessing SEN support at school. See our practical approaches to implementing support with limited space and resources.

Whose Shoes?

We are incredibly excited that this event will feature the “Whose Shoes?” game.

As part of this event, you will participate in a “Whose Shoes?” session, where you will have the opportunity to consider scenarios with people from different perspectives – unpick what it may feel like to wear someone else’s shoes in a child’s SEND journey.

Why is “Whose Shoes?” featuring in this event?

This session is about working together in order to support our children.  With an increased understanding of the perspectives of others involved in supporting a child (parent, health, education, social care etc) we can develop our own understanding of the roles of others in developing support.
