"An authentic, natural young singer-songwriter with a really lovely guitar style".
Dougie MacLean
Mari Sutherland is a singer, guitarist and contemporary songwriter, illustration graduate and member of Perth band, Parliamo. Although life in Parliamo keeps her busy, she has not abandoned her solo endeavours, continuing to write songs and perform them under her own name, supporting various bands and artists and performing at festivals such as Perthshire Amber and this years Glastonbury festival! She allows her passion for music to bleed into her art, creating stop motion animations and lyric books to accompany her songs, using the imagery to enhance the stories and emotions depicted in her music. She is inspired by a plethora of different genres from contemporary folk to prog rock, using alternative guitar tunings to experiment and to uncover sounds most fitting to the themes of her songs. She recently recorded live tracks at Art Bar in Dundee with help from some of her fellow DJCAD art graduates, available now on Youtube and streaming platforms. Mairi is definitely one to look out for!
After not one, but two successful solo performances at the Vault in 2022, artist formerly known as Rachel May is back with a rebrand, and this time she’s bringing reinforcements! Now going by “Ferî” - an alteration of her surname: Ferries - Rachel has teamed up with another local musician, king of the strings, Willem McKie. Willem performed at the Vault earlier this summer with his band “Quick”, and will be adding an exciting new dimension to an acoustic set of Ferî’s self-penned pop songs. With Ferî’s debut single due to be released this year, this is a performance by two home-grown talents not to be missed!
