What you need to know

LLEH Coffee & Connect: ‘managing risk’ and ‘promoting safeguarding’ in suicide research: short informal, online networking event for anyone involved or interested in suicide research that engages with, or is about lived and/or living experiences of suicide.

The  Discovering Liveability Lived and Living Experience Hub (LLEH) will host researchers with lived and living experience of suicide and provide a space and opportunities for connection, collaboration and knowledge exchange. It will bring together the knowledge and expertise of a whole range of collaborators: researchers, practitioners, activists and people with lived experience- both nationally and internationally.

As we grow and develop the Hub this bi-monthly on-line event space offers an opportunity to meet and connect with others doing this work, share experiences, and learn from each other. It is a space for introductions, and new collaborations

Who is it for:

Anyone with an interest in suicide research that seeks to include lived and living experiences of suicide in any wayincluding

  • Students or researchers (with or without their own lived/living experiences of suicide), doing suicide research about or with people with lived/living experiences of suicide.

  • People with lived/living experiences of suicide that advise on, informcollaborate or lead research about suicide from a lived experience perspective.

  • Anyone who is interested in suicide research that engages with, or is about lived and/or living experiences of suicide.

What to expect:

It will be a short (1 hour) on-line meeting space where participants will be divided into small break out rooms to allow space for connection and conversation. This month themed discussion is around ‘managing risk’ and ‘promoting safeguarding’ in suicide researchPrompts for discussion will be things like:

  • What does it even mean to say things like ‘manage risk’ and ‘create a safe space’ in suicide research?

  • The rights, wrongs and in-betweens when people are excluded from being involved in research if they are recently bereaved or have been experiencing suicidal thoughts/made recent attempts.

  • What would good look like? And what do people with lived and living experience of suicide need to support them to be involved in research?

Sharing

This event is an informal meeting space for anyone interested in or doing lived experience suicide research to connect and share their thoughts or experiences about this work. There is no expectation for people to share their lived/living experiences of suicide. We expect and welcome a diversity of views and opinions and ask that all participants are respectful and mindful of others views and experiences.
