Introducing: A Lived and Living Experience Suicide Research Hub

Monday, September 1, 2025

What you need to know

This event will be online and run for 90 minutes with two short comfort breaks. We will email you all the details of the meeting link in a confirmation email once you’ve registered. You may receive a QR code but this will not be needed to join the event.

The event will involve some discussion about how we can develop the hub as a positive space for researchers and collaborators with lived and living experience relating to suicide. There is no expectation to directly share or discuss experiences of suicide. You can choose to share what feels safe and comfortable for you.

About the event

In Discovering Liveability’s first official online event, we’re excited to introduce a key project we’re working towards: The Lived and Living Experience Hub (LLEH). The hub will host researchers with lived and living experience of suicide and provide a space and opportunities for connection, collaboration and knowledge exchange. It will bring together the knowledge and expertise of a whole range of collaborators: researchers, practitioners, activists and people with lived experience- both nationally and internationally.

The event will begin with an introduction to the Discovering Liveability project. We will then share more about the hub, and most importantly, hear from you — your thoughts, any questions and how you might like to be involved going forward.

What to expect:

  • Introductions & welcome

  • Overall project introduction: Principal Investigator Professor Amy Chandler will introduce the Discovering Liveability project; its key aims and research questions.

  • Short Break

  • Introduction to Lived and Living Experience Hub: Work Package 1 leads will introduce their work package in more detail and the idea for the Lived and Living Experience Hub

  • Short Break

  • Opportunity for some discussion and questions about the hub from attendees. Depending on numbers, we may invite attendees into breakout rooms with team members in each space to facilitate questions and discussions.

  • Wrap up and next steps: how to stay in touch and get involved.
