Young People Growing up in Care: Origins, Experiences and Outcomes, Seminar, Tuesday 5th March, 16:00-17:30pm
University of Edinburgh, Room F.21, 7 George Square, EH8 9JZ
Presenters: Dr Emily Taylor, Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology; Alienor Lemieux-Cumberlege, Doctoral Trainee in Clinical Psychology; Lillian Rose, Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology
Children growing up in care (foster, residential, and kinship care) continue to experience some of the worst life outcomes, despite sustained efforts to improve policy, funding and practice. Through a series of short presentations, this seminar will report on a programme of research from LAACLab exploring what helps and hinders caregivers (e.g. kinship carers, residential care workers) to care, and what innovations can support those working on the frontline to promote healthy and resilient young people whilst also safeguarding their own mental health.
