What you need to know

The Glasgow Open (GO) Justice Centre is delighted to invite you to the Emma Ritch Women’s Rights Seminar 2024 which will take place at 2.30-5.00pm on Tuesday 29th October 2024 in the Halliday Room, 8 Professors Square at the School of Law, University of Glasgow.

In celebration of Emma’s many significant achievements, we will showcase the work of our students and staff in the area of women’s rights.  This  includes the provision of trauma informed specialist legal advice and representation for complainers in sexual offences cases offered by the ground-breaking Emma Ritch law Clinic, as well as our work in legal education to develop and apply deeper understandings of the causes and effects of gender injustice.

There will be opportunities for discussion and personal reflections.

Refreshments will be available from 2.00pm and all attendees are invited to join us for a wine reception at 5.00pm which will be followed by an inaugural Madge Easton Anderson lecture which will be given by Professor Linda Mulcahy, Centre for Sociolegal Studies, University of Oxford on the topic of 'The Right to Legal Knowledge: Epistemic injustice in post democratic age'. The lecture will be held at the University, with exact room allocation being announced in early course.

The seminar is an invitation-only event, if you are unable to join us and would like to nominate a colleague to attend in your place, please let us know by email.
