This year’s James Wood lecture will take place on Thursday 9 November in the Sir Charles Wilson lecture theatre, commencing at 5.30pm. Tea and coffee will be available before the lecture, from 5.00pm, and the lecture will be followed by a drinks reception commencing at 6.30pm. All are welcome to attend.
This year’s lecture, on “Equity and Interpretation” will be delivered by Professor Timothy Endicott, Vinerian Professor of English Law at All Souls College, Oxford. In it, Professor Endicott will explore the judicial interpretation—and possible invalidation—of statute.

The James Wood Lecture
The James Wood Lecture is the principal public lecture hosted annually by the University of Glasgow School of Law, having first been delivered by Lord Fraser of Tullybelton in 1987. Recent James Wood lecturers have included Eleanor Sharpston QC, Professor Dame Hazel Genn, Lord Sumption and Ian Forrester QC. It is generously supported by the James Wood Bequest Fund.
