Abstract: Graham will be talking about his life living with schizophrenia and the last fifteen years under a compulsory community treatment order via readings from his memoirs and conversation with Professor Andrew Gumley . He will also be talking about the difference family makes and telling the story of his love for his partner Wendy. He is bound to mention Dash the dog and the solace that the natural world brings to him and is very likely to touch on his years of activism in the field of mental health. Following the event, tea and coffee will be provided. Copies of his books will also available for purchase. There will be an opportunity to meet Graham who will be sining his books.

BIO: Graham lives in Argyll with Wendy and her children James and Louie and Dash the dog. He has spent the last forty years speaking out alongside his peers about life with a mental illness and in the course of this was awarded an MBE for services to Mental Health, was service user contributor of the year for the Royal College of psychiatrists and was given the Andy Lawless award for changing attitudes to mental health. He has spent most of his life in collective advocacy and has spoken at the United Nations committee against torture and will be speaking at the British Academy later in the year. He was joint vice chair of the Scottish review of mental health legislation. He is a writer and has a weekly substack column at https://substack.com/@grahammorgan?utm_source=user-menu and a website at https://grahammorgan-author.com . While he is not an academic he has had pieces published in journals like Lancet Psychiatry and the Journal of mental health and the law. He recently started doing some work with the Professor Andrew Gumley as an affiliate of Glasgow University.
