Innovations in Mental Health Care: Celebrating Collaboration Conference – 30th May 2025

 

About the event:

The Psychosis Research Group based in the School of Health and Wellbeing, University of Glasgow are hosting this free event to acknowledge, share and celebrate the wonderful ongoing collaborations we have with multidisciplinary colleagues from the NHS, the third sector and colleagues from communities with expertise by experience. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Location: School of Health and Wellbeing, Clarice Pears Building, 90 Byres Road, Glasgow. 

 

Programme Highlights:

Across this event we will share our work including the following topic areas: 

  • AVATAR Therapy for distressing voices
  • Collaborations with Crisis Intervention Services for people in crisis with suicidal thoughts
  • Innovations and advances in developing and testing technologies to detect and prevent relapse
  • The Sleeping Better Trial - helping people with psychosis sleep better
  • Exploring how to improve the uptake of cancer screening in people with mental health problems
  • Exploring how we work with people with expertise by experience to inform and produce our work
  • and finally dreaming about our future work with you...

Who should attend?

This event is open to anyone interested in psychosis research, care, and lived experience. We hope that the day will be a wonderful opportunity to bring together:

-              Allied Health Professionals

-              Support workers 

-              Mental health workers in NGO settings

-              People with Expertise by their lived or living Experience (EbE) of mental health problems       

-              Supporters of someone with mental health problems

 

We hope the day offers not just space to hear from speakers, but also opportunities for discussion, reflection, connection, and networking - whether you're attending as a clinician, researcher, expert by experience, or some combination of all three.

Cycle Provision
There are approximately 1800 cycle spaces provided across the University campus and are within a short walk of the School of Health and Wellbeing. Cycle storage spaces cannot be reserved. Cyclists remain responsible for the security of their bicycles at all times, whether externally or internally stored, and should provide their own locking devices and insurance cover.

If cycling/walking to or from the building through the campus South of University Avenue, you may pass through some gates. Please take note of the gate opening times and accessibility, details found on the University website.

There are 88 cycle parking spaces located in Infirmary Way and University Place. The number of these aligns with BREEAM TRA-03 Cyclist Facilities and a site-specific travel assessment. There are two bicycle shelters on the North East side of the Clarice Pears.

Local Public Transport

The closest low-level train station is Partick, and walking from Partick train station takes 15 minutes.

The nearest subway stops are Hillhead and Kelvinhall, both a 6-7 min walk away.

The nearest bus stops for the building are on Byres Road, University Avenue, Dumbarton Road, and Great Western Road.
