William Hunter and the Anatomy of the Modern Museum marks the William Hunter Tercentenary – 300 years since the birth of Hunterian founder, Dr William Hunter (1718-1783).
This major exhibition not only offers a critical examination of Hunter - a man of exceptional vision who saw no boundaries between art and science - but explores his life, character and career as well as his research, collection and links to Glasgow.
Following a recent Glasgow Women’s Library 'feminist decoding' group visit to The Hunterian’s William Hunter and the Anatomy of the Modern Museum exhibition, Project Co-ordinator Rachel Thain-Gray shares the outcomes of their critical feminist questioning. This question and answer session will explore the centering of artifacts and narratives of white, heterosexual, masculinity and privilege, suggesting alternatives to increase identity-based inclusion in the museum at large.
Public event, 5 - 7pm at The Hunterian Art Gallery
