What you need to know

Join us for Preparing for Pandemics: How to Communicate?, an interdisciplinary symposium funded by the AHRC, dedicated to improving communication strategies for viral pandemics. This event will be held in the Bridie Library at the University of Glasgow’s Glasgow University Union on Tuesday, 19 November, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The symposium will feature expert speakers, including Chris Smith (The Naked Scientists, BBC Radio 5Live), Lisa Summers (BBC Scotland), Professor Adam Carter, Dr Josephine Adekola, Professor David Robertson, and Professor Toni Ho, covering key insights into the challenges of conveying accurate information across the specialist-general public divide. Together, they’ll share expertise on topics like public trust, effective messaging, and the nuanced role of media in health communication. The day will close with a collaborative discussion to pinpoint practical solutions and prepare us for future public health challenges.

Professionals from public health, media, and academia who wish to participate actively in the conversations are warmly invited to join us for this essential conversation on pandemic preparedness.
