Going Back to In-person Events- Presented by Kostas Minas, Head of Education and Learning, Aberdeen Science Centre
This digital interactive workshop aims to inform researchers and academics about what they need to consider before engaging with communities in person. The information in this workshop will be largely based on our team’s experiences before, through and after the pandemic. Furthermore, we are going to share relevant information from our contacts with other Science Centres, Local Authorities and community groups. We intend to make this workshop as interactive as possible and we propose to use interactive digital means like padlets or mentimetre and breakout rooms to facilitate discussions.
The topics covered in this workshop will cover all the different aspects of engaging communities in person. Based on our current experience, we suggest that the session might include the following:
Why should we change from digital to in person delivery?
Events etiquette: How to choose the appropriate event format and venue
Health and Safety considerations before and during the event, including information on “Hygiene Theatre” and dynamic risk assessments
Effective communication with community leaders and attendees
Feedback and post event evaluation
