What you need to know

The ArtsLab on Migration and Displacement, the School of Modern Languages and Cultures' Environmental Humanities Research Group and the Glasgow Refugee, Asylum and Migration Network would like to invite you to the presentation of

Lifelines: Searching for Home in the Mountains of Greece, by Julian Hoffman (2025).

Set in the transboundary region of the ancient Prespa Lakes in the Balkans, the book explores the intersections between human and more-than-human dynamics, including migration, displacement and exile, communication and, above all, the meaning of home and belonging in a rapidly changing world.

Julian Hoffman is the author of Irreplaceable: The Fight to Save our Wild Places (2020; Shortlisted for the Wainwright Prize for Writing on Global Conservation 2020) and The Small Heart of Things (2014). He will be in conversation with Dr Mirna Šolić and Dr Claudia Dellacasa, from the School of Modern Languages and Cultures.
