Join us for the highly anticipated FUSE CDT Annual Scientific Meeting 2025, organized by FUSE CDT. This year's ASM will be held at the Senate Room. Gilbert Scott Building, University of Glasgow. This conference is a must-attend event for anyone interested in the latest developments and breakthroughs in research and academia. We are excited to bring together researchers, academics, and external partners to showcase their achievements and activities.
This year's conference evening meal will be held at One A The Square from 18:00. We would be delighted if you can join us for a 3-course meal and a opportunity to network further with the FUSE Community
At this year's meeting, you will have the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals from various fields of study while gaining valuable insights into cutting-edge research.
We have a wide range of speakers to talk about their field in ultrasound this year:
Prof. Mengxing Tang, Imperial College London
Professor Mengxing Tang joined the Department of Bioengineering, Imperial College as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in 2006 and became a Professor in 2018. His current research mainly focuses on developing new imaging techniques of ultrahigh temporal resolution (up to tens of thousands of frames per second) and spatial resolution (down to tens of microns at multi-centimeter depth) using ultrasound, signal and image processing techniques, for visualising and quantifying macro- and micro-vascular structure and flow dynamics. He also works on developing ultrasound tomography technologies for imaging the human brain, as well as using ultrasound as a brain-computer interface. Professor Tang has a wide range of collaborations with clinicians, biologists, and engineers/physicists. His clinical interests include cardiovascular diseases, cancer, neurological conditions, gut and reproductive system diseases.
Prof. James Windmill, University of Strathclyde
Professor James Windmill is Director of the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. His research focuses on the investigation of hearing systems in insects to inspire the development of new acoustic and ultrasonic sensors and systems. He is also interested in sustainable engineering through the process of remanufacturing, the development of new biomedical sensors, and the use of ultrasound in non-destructive evaluation and manufacturing.
Prof. Margaret Lucas, University of Glasgow
Professor Margaret Lucas is distinguished by the application of high-power ultrasound to solve industrial and medical problems, her engineering leadership and her outreach activities. She is a world leader in her research field, extending the use of ultrasound to such areas as soft and hard tissue surgeries, manufacturing, and drilling technologies for terrestrial and planetary exploration, generating significant engineering impact. She has been Dean of Research and a divisional leader at the University of Glasgow, enhancing the engineering academic environment and engaging in outreach activities that have widened participation in engineering.
