How did the willful daughter of a Himalayan forest guard become American agrochemical and agricultural biotechnology corporation Monsanto’s worst nightmare?

'The Seeds of Vandana Shiva' tells the remarkable life story of Gandhian eco-activist Dr. Vandana Shiva, how she stood up to the corporate Goliaths of industrial agriculture, rose to prominence in the food justice movement, and inspired an international crusade for change.

Colleagues from the Food Sovereignty NetworkDr Julia McClure (School of Humanities - University of Glasgow) and Dr Sourit Battacharaya (School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures - University of Edinburgh) will provide contributions to add context and reflections on the themes of the film from their work and the work of the Food Sovereignty Network.

There will be opportunity for those joining us in-person to connect after the event over food and refreshments.

This event concerns the themes of ecofeminisim, food sovereignty, and climate justice, as well as highlighting the role of marginalised peoples, including women, in these important forms of resistance and activism.
