Business Creation Course

• This registration is for all 10 sessions

Our Business Creation Course for women is designed to give you information and practical insights on starting up a business.

Our expert support will encourage you to assess the value of skills you have already and consider how those skills, interests or hobbies could be converted into a business idea.

Our experts have already started up their own businesses and will share their own experiences and provide help and support with ideas generation and skills matching. 

Places are funded by the Scottish Government, so there is no charge to participate.

Format

The course will be delivered over 10 weeks from Friday 19th January until 22 March 2024 with weekly sessions held by zoom from 10am – 12 noon each Friday morning.

The sessions will be delivered by the Women's Business Centre. You will receive handouts electronically to help you get the most out of each session and to keep the momentum going between each session as you put the learning into practice.

Topics covered during the course include: what is an entrepreneur?; individual skills assessment and development plan; idea generation and assessment; attracting customers; pricing; funding; business planning and launching a business.

How will you benefit?

You will benefit from a 10-week training programme designed to help you assess your own skills, identify or develop a business idea - and turn that idea into a business. Ensuring that your existing skills are used, new business skills are gained and creating the opportunity to earn an income from your own business.

Participants in the Borders, Shetland and Argyll with have a local facilitator, and have the opportunity to meet other women who have started up their own business and meet local contacts providing business support. Plus be introduced to other like-minded women learning to start-up their own business.
