An evening with violinist Fenella Humphreys

Violinist Fenella Humphreys presents a ravishing and varied collection of solo caprices from the devilish brilliance of Paganini’s near-impossible virtuosity to brand new commissions from acclaimed composers.

Paganini was the rockstar of his day. Making women faint wherever he performed with his sheer presence and virtuosity, it was rumoured he was even in league with the devil. He revolutionised violin technique, particularly in his book of 24 Caprices for unaccompanied violin which explore every violinistic trick in the book.

Join us for Escape Art Centre’s programme which brings together Caprices and Etudes new and old from around the world. Also included is a new set of variations on Paganini’s 24th Caprice written by some of the UK’s leading composers. Travel to capricious worlds of Viennese charm, Argentinian tango, American bluegrass, and eastern European gypsy music, with plenty of Paganini’s fireworks along the way. Hopefully without the need for smelling salts.
