Leading Reception: Early Literacy and Language  

This training aims to provide delegates with opportunities to network, share best practice, and focus on aspects from a leadership perspective, using end-of-year 2026 data and Autumn term baseline assessments. Delegates will be able to participate in professional conversations around their baseline assessments and priorities for leadership and monitoring.  

This training session will provide EYFS Leaders with the opportunity to:

• collaborate with EYFS colleagues;

• provide opportunities to reflect upon current practice and provision, and develop an Action Plan for improvement;

• explore best practice and practical strategies to support foundational knowledge and skills that underpin Early Language and Literacy;

• ensure your provision and curriculum offers your Reception children a ‘strong start’ with Phonics, early reading and writing;

• discuss the importance of early intervention and for children to ‘keep up’ with expectations;

• gain access to essential tools and resources to support the ongoing development of their leadership, quality of teaching and learning across the EYFS team.
