How does the railway industry decide what are proportionate physical security measures for transportation infrastructure projects? 

As Stations especially are Publicly Accessible Places. The content of this webinar is especially relevant in the context of the Protect Duty Legislation, as Stations are Publicly Accessible Places.

This webinar shall be delivered by a panel of engineers with experience in transport infrastructure projects, consisting of David Amaku MSyI, Mariella Gallo MSyI, Louisa Man and George Dagres; the webinar is Primarily aimed at non-engineers and will include: 

• Discussions about regulation, legislation, security guidance, current technical standards, sources of information and stakeholders.
• How infrastructure is designed to mitigate the effects of security incidents (a non-technical discussion on how buildings and infrastructure are designed and engineered to be resilient to security incidents)
• How are security risks assessed?

The panel shall also discuss some of the challenges of: 

• Determining what is a “proportionate” physical security measure and what is the role of client and designer.
• Balancing the requirements of Public Accessible places especially when these are not mutually compatible (or conflict). Examples will be given of “bespoke” approaches.
