About this event

Securing a Nuclear Construction Project – Security but not as we know it

This conference will discuss the challenges associated with protecting the largest construction site in Europe that manages the safe arrival of over 7,500 vetted multi-national workers and 530 vehicles onsite every day - all of which are exposed to entry and exit search.

It outlines the benefits of a strong client/contractor partnership in the delivery of a risk-proportionate and cost-efficient integrated security service whilst also meeting the stringent regulatory and legal requirements associated with the civilian nuclear industry.

Conference Programme:

09:00 - Meet at the HPC park & ride at Cannington, near Bridgwater, Somerset. -  Prompt arrival is essential.

09:05 - Registration, board HPC bus.

09:25 - Presentations from various speakers - more information released soon.

12:40 - Lunch & Networking Opportunities

13:40 - Identification Checks and board bus for site tour*

14:10 - Depart Cannington Park to HPC Construction Site

14:30 - Sealed tour of site construction areas with tour guide

16:10 - Arrive back at Cannington park and ride

Speakers Announced!

We are pleased to announce that we will be joined by:

Frank Cannon CSyP FSyI who will share what he has learnt over the last 15-years whilst protecting mega-construction projects in the UK and across the globe. He will highlight the importance of obtaining executive buy-in, discuss how he delivers a holistic security programme, and underscores the disproportionate benefits that an employee security awareness programme provides. He will conclude by offering a personal view on how to sell security services or equipment to a busy corporate security manager.  As a passionate protector of people, property, and information, Frank loves to share his experiences with others. Delivered with an equal share of humility and humour, this straight-talking, jargon-free practitioner blends the academic theory with industry experience to create, deliver, and critically-analyse security programmes that resonate across all industries.  Soon to handover his leadership role at Hinkley Point C, Frank will transition to a consultant’s role with Cannon Asset Protection Limited – ‘probably the best security consultancy in Amesbury, Wiltshire’.

Andrew Hines, Security Delivery Manager, Site Operations, HPC, will be joining us to present on his topic "Security Logistics and Securing Construction" and delve further in to How Abnormal Indivisible Loads (AILs) and construction equipment are secured during the delivery and holding operations to HPC.

Jessica Croker the Delivery Management System (DMS) Lead at Hinkley Point C.

Jessica's presentation Securing Logistics or Securing Construction? is A look into how we have overcome the challenges of getting the materials and components required to build a nuclear power station, to and from the largest construction site in Europe, using only a small C road in rural Somerset.

Michael Wood - HPC Site Security Operations Lead. - The Ingress and Egress Challenge -
