This is a private group coaching session for members of the Phoenix GTCC.The session will be held at Lotts Wood, near Amersham. and limited to a maximum of 8 participants

This is a 2–3 hour MTB bike handling skills coaching session, led by Jim Donald, a qualified British Cycling coach.

We will focus on 2–3 specific skills, aiming to improve body positioning while cornering, descending, and navigating the natural obstacles found on local trails.

This is not an advanced rider session; it is more focused on improving confidence on your bike while tackling the natural trail features typically found in the Chilterns.

Please meet at 9:40am to register and be ready to ride at 10:00am. The session will finish between 12:30 and 13:00. Please ensure you bring a drink, a snack, a helmet, and gloves.

Knee pads are also required due to the flinty nature of some of the terrain (these can be simple skateboard pads if you don’t have MTB-specific ones). Jim will have some spare knee pads available to borrow.

Please also take a few minutes before arriving to check that your helmet fits properly and that your bike is in good working order. Riders should be using a mountain bike with gears and treaded tyres. Make sure there is no loose clothing or shoelaces that could get caught in the bike.

The cost of the session is £15 for non-Summit members. This fee helps cover the cost of leasing the land from the Forestry Commission and supports maintenance work.

All our coaches are either qualified British Cycling Level 2 MTB or MIAS Level 2 coaches (or are working towards these qualifications). They are also First Aid trained and fully DBS checked.
